The mystical Vienna

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Price: 180 €
  • Meeting point: Stephansdom, Main entrance

Storms, fires and epidemics were often explained with the help of sagas and legends. Nowadays, such an idea of medieval people seems funny and amusing to us. We will explore many urban legends, walk a beautiful route through the old town, look into hidden courtyards and sing "Oh, my dear Augustin" together. Fairy tales are not made up! They live in the streets of the old town. However, the heroes of the legends do not appear to everyone, but only to those who are willing to listen. We will meet amazing creatures that you may not have known existed. What does the water elf do in the Danube, how did the devil interfere in the construction of St Stephen's Cathedral, what does the basilisk do in the fountain, why does a cow play backgammon with a wolf and what do you do when you have a toothache?

A classic tour

  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Price: 90 Euros per hour (incl. car/bus)

Vienna is always beautiful! But how nice it is when you can admire the city from the window of a comfortable car. We will stop at the Vienna Opera House, the City Hall, the Museum of Art History and the Museum of Natural History. You will see the University of Vienna, the Parliament, the monuments to Mozart and Strauss. We get off at the house of the artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, drive to the Prater and see the Giant Ferris Wheel and the Danube, the business centre and the UN. Our next stop is the Belvedere, the summer residence of the talented military leader Prince Eugene of Savoy. It is a very beautiful baroque palace. And then we take you to the west of Vienna to the summer residence of the Habsburgs - the magnificent architectural and park complex of Schönbrunn. Schönbrunn can be admired endlessly. It is the power and grandeur of the Habsburg Empire.

The museums close, but the national Austrian wine taverns open. To get a feel for the local flavour, we'll head for the mountains. But first we'll see how life begins to bubble in the Prater in the evening, how beautifully the Giant Ferris Wheel is illuminated, we'll drive along the Ring around the centre of Vienna once again, we'll stop at interesting monuments and palaces and we'll admire Vienna from the viewing platform of the Kahlenberg.

For centuries, Vienna was not only the political capital of the vast Habsburg Empire, but also a world centre of culture. Composers, architects and artists flocked to Vienna and created their immortal masterpieces here. And today, in the 21st century, Vienna can rightly be called the European Capital of Culture. There are more than 100 museums in the city, including not only world-famous art galleries, but also museums with unique collections which, I can assure you, are not only of interest to specialists. I offer author tours where you can see violins and harpsichords from the time of Mozart and Beethoven in the Museum of Musical Instruments, learn about the history of the famous Viennese chair in the Museum of Applied Arts, feel like an inhabitant of an ancient city in the Ephesus Museum, tell the time in the Clock Museum and find out how forged paintings and sculptures were created in the Museum of Forgeries. But that's not all. Vienna's museums organise temporary exhibitions of paintings by world-famous artists from the world's leading museums, famous Austrian artists, graphic and contemporary art collections. For each of these temporary exhibitions in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Hofburg, the Albertina or the Belvedere, I prepare a guided tour programme that I can offer you in the first few days of the exhibition.
